Low impact leaching agents as remediation media for organotin and metal contaminated sediments

چکیده
All over the world, elevated levels of metals and toxic compound tributyltin (TBT) its degradation products are found in sediments, especially close to areas associated with shipping anthropogenic activities. Ports require regular removal sediments. As a result, large volumes often contaminated sediments must be managed. The aim this study was investigate enhanced leaching as treatment method for organotin metal (Cu Zn) marine Thus, enabling possibility reuse these cleaner masses e.g. construction. In addition using acid alkaline agents that extract OTs but reduce management options post treatment, innovative alternatives such EDDS, hydroxypropyl cellulose, humic acid, iron colloids, ultra-pure Milli-Q water, saponified tall oil (“soap”), NaCl were tested. Organotin ranged from 36 75%, where most efficient agent which also achieving highest rate TBT (46%), followed by soap (34%). reduction accomplished water enabled change Swedish sediment classification class second class. Zn HPC leached samples (39% removal) Cu EDDS (33% removal). Although high OT achieved, none investigated sufficiently effective both OTs. results indicate ultra-clean may sufficient treat potentially allow mass reuse.

Reducing Agents Enhanced Electrokinetic Soil Remediation (EKSR) for Heavy Metal Contaminated Soil
Reducing agents-Enhanced electrokinetic Soil Remediation (EKSR) was performed for the removal of chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co) and nickel (Ni) from contaminated soil. The reducing agents oxalic acid and ascorbic acid were investigated under constant voltage gradient (2.0 V/cm), current changes, pH, redox potential, concentration changes and removal performance of Heavy Metals (HMs). The result...
متن کاملFungi and bacteria as helping agents for remediation of a Pb - contaminated soil by Onopordum acanthium
Phytoremediation is a promising method for remediation of heavy metals (HMs) contaminated environments. However, the main failures are the limited bioavailabilty of HMs such as lead (Pb) in the soil and/or suppressed plant growth in contaminated sites. These limitations specifically occur in semi-arid zone environments such as calcareous soils. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and plant growt...
متن کاملRemediation technologies for heavy metal contaminated groundwater.
The contamination of groundwater by heavy metal, originating either from natural soil sources or from anthropogenic sources is a matter of utmost concern to the public health. Remediation of contaminated groundwater is of highest priority since billions of people all over the world use it for drinking purpose. In this paper, thirty five approaches for groundwater treatment have been reviewed an...
متن کاملSoil Remediation: Metal Leaching from Contaminated Soil through the Modified BCR Sequential Extraction Procedure
Sequential extraction is a useful method of identifying how toxic trace metals bind to soil particles and the strength of these bonds. This is very essential knowledge to reach an efficient soil washing when dealing with remediation of metal-contaminated soil. Sequential extraction uses a succession of extractions on a soil same sample, with extraction liquids expected to promote decreasing mob...
متن کاملBiosurfactant-facilitated remediation of metal-contaminated soils.
Bioremediation of metal-contaminated wastestreams has been successfully demonstrated. Normally, whole cells or microbial exopolymers are used to concentrate and/or precipitate metals in the wastestream to aid in metal removal. Analogous remediation of metal-contaminated soils is more complex because microbial cells or large exopolymers do not move freely through the soil. The use of microbially...
